Festival International de Jazz 2026

The Montreal International Jazz Festival returns in 2026 with another ambitious edition, reaffirming its reputation as the largest jazz festival in the world.

Running from June 25 to July 4 in Montreal, the 46th installment promises a sweeping celebration of jazz and its many offshoots, blending global superstars with emerging voices across more that a week of performances.

As always, the festival will transform the Quartier des Spectacles into a sprawling musical hub, where ticketed indoor concerts meet a vibrant programme of free outdoor shows.

With hundreds of performances expected, many of them free, the event continues its long-standing mission of making world-class music accessible to a broad audience while spotlighting both established legends and cutting-edge innovators.

The 2026 lineup reflects the event’s diversity. Among the biggest names confirmed is Canadian jazz icon Diana Krall, joined by genre-blending trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf and funk pioneers The Headhunters. Virtuoso banjo player Bela Fleck will appear alongside harpist Edmar Castaneda and drummer Antonio Sanchez, showcasing the festival’s flair for inventive collaborations.

Headlining this year’s festival will be Lionel Richie, along with special guests Earth, Wind and Fire.

Vocal jazz remains a strong pillar of the programme, with acclaimed performers such as Cecile McLorin Salvant, Melody Gardot and Stacey Kent all set to take the stage. Meanwhile, instrumental heavyweights including Marcus Miller and saxophonist Joshua Redman will bring a more traditional jazz edge to the proceedings.

Beyond straight-ahead jazz, the 2026 edition leans heavily into cross-genre experimentation. Audiences can expect performances from indie and alternative acts like St. Vincent, global collective Pink Martini and electronic-influenced composer Max Richter. The presence of artists such as Kokoroko and The Halluci Nation highlights the festival’s ongoing embrace of contemporary jazz fusion and global sounds.

Tributes and special projects are also expected to play a major role. A standout highlight is Marcus Miller’s ‘We Want Miles!’ show, celebrating the centenary of Miles Davis. This is a reminder of the festival’s deep connection with jazz history, even as it pushes forward with contemporary creativity.

Ultimately, the 2026 Montreal International Jazz Festival looks set to deliver its signature mix; a citywide celebration where jazz intersects with pop, funk and experimental sounds.

Whether you are drawn to legendary performers, adventurous newcomers or the electric atmosphere of Montreal in summer, this year’s edition promises something for every kind of music fan.
